Why Do I need Physical Fitness?
Fitness does not only refer to being physically fit, but also refers to a person"s mental state as well. If a person is physically fit, but not mentally fit, he or she will not be able to function at an optimum capacity. Mental fitness can only be achieved if your body is functioning well. You can help relax your own mind and eliminate stresses by exercising regularly and eating right.
People who are physically fit are also healthier, are able to maintain their most optimum weight, and are also not prone to cardiac and other health problems. In order to maintain a relaxed state of mind, a person should be physically active. A person who is fit both physically and mentally is strong enough to face the ups and downs of life, and is not affected by drastic changes if they take place.
Becoming physically fit requires a change in life style as well. You will have to incorporate a regular exercise routine in your life and also eat healthier. By avoiding junk foods, Carbonated drinks, bad habits like smoking and alcohol and by getting adequate amount of rest, you will be able to become physically and mentally fit. Just by eliminating all these food substances from your life, no matter how temporarily, you will allow your body to detox and become stronger. Make sure that you spend more time outdoors in the sun, and fresh air and take part in more healthy activities. Fishing, bicycling, swimming, hiking, and even playing sports with your kids should be a part of your physically fit lifestyle.
Dom Richardson, Personal Trainer
Dom Richardson is a California native who grew up in Redondo Beach and attended Mira Costa High School. While attending Mira Costa High School, he excelled in Football, Basketball and Martial Arts.
Dom Attended Howard University on a full Football Athletic scholarship where he received a B.S. Degree in Education/ Psychology and a minor in Kinesiology.
After successfully graduating from Howard University, Dom signed a 3 year contract to play football for the Washington Redskins as an Offensive Lineman. It was there where Dom spent countless hours studying the science behind health and nutrition from the NFL’s best strength and conditioning coaches. Dom has applied these principles to his own style of training and has completely become a professional in the art of Circuit training, High Intensity Interval training, Kettle Bell training, Rehabilitation and Muscle Rejuvenation and Nutrition.
Dom has been teaching and educating adults and youth in the area of personal training and nutrition since 2003. He spent time in Washington D.C as an Assistant Athletic Coach at Howard University (2003-2005), Head Strength and Conditioning coach at High Point High School (2006-2007) and Strength Coach at Bishop McNamara Private School (2008-2010). In 2010 Dom spearheaded a program with the Prince Georges County Police Department to get Police and Military recruits mentally and physically prepared for bootcamps. In November 2010 while residing in Maryland, Dom established Domin8r Fitness (which later became DomFit) which is identified as a standard of training for athletes that are making transitions from High School to Collegiate sports, and athletes that are making the transition from Collegiate to Professional sports.
